Flinch is part of a trilogy of books published for the exhibit Messages and Communications at the Mattress Factory Museum in Pittsburgh. For this volume the poems of Jim Daniels meander through his daily routine, which includes constant reminders of an onging war. The photographs of Marsico also zigzag through his daily observations. The images are inkjet printed with a blind letterpress relief caption over the image. Out of print. The poems' text was designed by Rick Landesberg in Bulmer with initial caps in Arial and transferred onto polymer plates by Boxcar Press. The text paper was handmade by Twinrocker for the first 9 of the edition with the remaining 29 in Somerset Book. The text block was letterpress printed on a Vandercook proofing press. The book covers are quarter bound in kangaroo leather and rayon bookcloth. The photographs were digitally and letterpress printed on Entrada cotton rag paper. The book was digitally printed, letterpress printed and bound by the photographer in an edition limited to 30 copies in September 2005.
